User Guide
The JENNIFER APM app lets you watch and analyze, inside Logpresso Sonar, the performance of the services JENNIFER APM monitors. It comes in two parts.
- Transaction collection - with a JENNIFER Open API token, it collects the response time, CPU time, SQL time and error type of finished transactions at intervals and stores them in a table, where you can search them alongside other logs and run detection rules over them
- JENNIFER console - it signs in to the JENNIFER web console with a console account and opens the console's dashboard, analysis and statistics screens from the Sonar menu. Query commands read the same console data, so an anomaly you spot on a screen can be followed to its end with a query or an AI agent
The console screens share their layout, usage and wording with the JENNIFER 5.7.0.1 console - including its Korean labels - so anyone who has used JENNIFER will find their way around.
Before you start
What you need depends on the part you use. The Install Guide covers it in detail.
- Transaction collection - a JENNIFER Open API token, a
JENNIFER APMconnect profile, a collector - Console screens and console query commands - app 1.1.2610.0 or later, a JENNIFER console account, a
JENNIFER Consoleconnect profile - AI agent root cause analysis - the console setup above plus an AI agent app (Agentic SOC or AI Assistant)
How it flows
The basic flow is watch the dashboards → pick transactions on X-View → transaction detail → widen the view with analysis and statistics.
- Watch TPS, response time, active services and X-View in real time on a dashboard
- Drag the mouse over a cluster of points that jumped up on the X-View chart, and the X-View transactions window opens with the selected transactions in a list
- Click a transaction in the list to open its transaction detail - the timeline, the call tree and so on - and see which SQL, external call or method took the time
- To look back at an earlier period or widen the scope, use X-View and SFR under Analysis and the daily and monthly system performance under Statistics
What is awkward on a screen - comparing a day of metrics against a baseline, or putting the applications of an anomalous window next to those of a normal one - is done with query commands. Hand that sequence (targets → detect → verdict → scope → evidence → cause) to an AI agent and one question gets you a root cause report.
Menus
The console menus sit under JENNIFER APM in the left menu.
| Menu | Screen | What it is | Manual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | System Admin | The domain's throughput, response time, active services, X-View and events on one realtime screen | Dashboards |
| Dashboard | Application Insights | An application-centered view: application map, active applications, problem and stack trace heatmaps, X-View | Dashboards |
| Dashboard | Memory | Heap and non-heap memory, GC time and GC activity, CPU and memory usage per instance | Dashboards |
| Dashboard | System Resource | CPU and memory usage of the system and the process | Dashboards |
| Analysis | X-View | Search an earlier period's transactions on the X-View chart and filter them by response time, application and other conditions | Analysis |
| Analysis | Stacktrace Flight Recorder (SFR) | See where applications and methods spend their time, from collected stack trace samples | Analysis |
| Statistics | Daily System Performance | A day's domain and instance performance, peak time, events and errors as tables and charts | Statistics |
| Statistics | Monthly System Performance | A month's domain and instance performance and peak day | Statistics |
| (window) | X-View transactions | The window that opens when you drag over an X-View chart: the transaction list and details | X-View Transactions |
The screens offer only the JENNIFER Console profiles you are granted. With two or more of them, you pick one the first time you open a screen. The choice stays in the address as ?profile= and carries over as you move between screens.
